In the wake of the Corona Virus outbreak, the Council have compiled the following information that may be of use to the community.  We hope that it will provide useful links for those who are venerable and those who would like to offer their help. 

Government Advice

First and foremost, we would like to re-iterate the Government’s guidelines; Stay at Home

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Register if you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus. For example, you’ll be able to ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food. Click here to register on the website.

  • Belluno, Bideford. Tel: 01237 473233 from 4.30pm onwards 7 days a week to order offering a delivery service only. Menus on our website 7 days a week from 5pm until 8.00 (9pm Fri and Sat). The full menu available including wine, beers, soft drinks and desserts. Card payment will be taken over the phone, and they are happy to call you and leave food on your doorstep if you do not want any contact. We are also happy to deliver home made breads, pasta and sauces for delivery too, as well as our delicious sliced cured meats and olives.   • Country Cottage Bakery.Shops open until 2pm. You can order direct from them to deliver or via Heards. Ring 473150 and press option 1 OR email your order via Please place your order and make payment by card (phone only) before 3pm for next day delivery.
  • Farmer Bob, 01271 830045. Offer home delivery service see Northam Town Council Facebook page for full details of products available and delivery. Includes milk, cheese, fruit juices, milk shakes, eggs, potatoes, bread. Further products will be added. 
  • Heards Butchers 474039. The shop is closed to the public with orders being taken by phone. You can pre-order for free delivery, usually the day before but currently they are taking orders for delivery next week. They can also delivery your Country Cottage Bakery orders.
  • Johns of Appledore. Tel 429065. £2.50 delivery charge to Ho! With minimum order value £20 and next day delivery. Payment is by credit card over the phone on ordering. They will ring your door bell and leave the delivery on your doorstep. More information below.
  • Local Farm Box. Tel: 01271 869191. Open 6am – 2pm. Please take a look at their website for current info and details of the different fruit, veg, salad and meat boxes you can order from them. They are currently running 48 hours behind.
  • Londis Ho! Village Stores. Tel: 477392. Store opened for groceries from 8am – 6.30pm. Post Office opening from 9am – 5pm.
  • Marshford Organic Foods. Order by phone 477160 or by email to . Fully booked for this week but availability thereafter. Delivery £3 to Ho! (no delivery charge for veg boxes as this is built in). Fresh, canned and frozen organic foods available with full range shown at Delivery to Appledore, Instow and neighbouring areas including Abbotsham, Bideford, Northam, Westward Ho!, Westleigh, Yelland and Fremington.”

Payment is contactless through door or via bank transfer. “All I ask is taxi fare at discounted rate and a donation for my time shopping.” NB: This business is self-employed yet he is offering free of charge lifts to work for NHS and care home staff who are struggling to get to work.

  • So Sweet. Tel:07851 656090 Delivering Pick’n’Mix 1kg Grab Bags between 5 – 8pm to the following areas: Westward Ho!, Northam, Bideford, Barnstaple, Appledore, Instow, East The Water, Fremington and Yelland. The 3 varieties on offer are , Pick’n’Mix with Fizz, Pick’n’Mix with No Fizz and Pick’n’Mix with Chocolate. £11 for a 1kg bag or 2 bags for £20. Only one person allowed instore at any one time. Orders are placed on a Tuesday to arrive Wednesday morning so orders need to be received by 11am Tuesday for collection on Wednesday after 12pm only. Local delivery available on days the shop is open.
